Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)

Hostile environment awareness training (HEAT) is crucial for individuals deployed in risk-associated, precarious or volatile environments. Therefore, it is essential to invest in specific training focused on awareness of security risks and the challenges of the specific environments to reduce the risks of loss of lives and injuries.

HEAT aims to improve participants’ comprehension of the challenging field requirements while working individually or as a team member within the context of an international organisation or institution.

The HEAT programme will equip individuals operating in risk theatres with essential tools on how to manage and reduce the risks, which in some cases may be lifesaving.

The Hostile Environment Awareness course (HEAT) is a tailor made advanced security awareness programme designed to prepare personnel of international institutions and NGOs, contractors, journalists and individuals (business travellers) to operate and travel in challenging, complex and high risk theatres. 

Participants come from a wide range of backgrounds and will conclude the HEAT training with a different perspective on the world and their own abilities. The training will provide the participants a different set of skills and invaluable knowledge to deal with various complex situations in hostile regions.

▪ Medical Training including Casualty Assessment and Management: Basic Life Support, Bleeding Control, First Aid Under Attack and Medical Evacuation

▪ Operational Readiness including Orientation: Map Reading and GPS Navigation, Four-wheel Driving Techniques and Vehicle Recovery

▪ Realistic Field Exercises

OUR FACILITY

Our HEAT course is conducted at a private site near Brussels, spanning 200,000 square meters, and offers a highly adaptable training center ideal for realistic scenarios. The environment and building structures meet all objectives of the course, providing participants with a real-life experience. While primarily held in Belgium, the course can also be delivered internationally upon request.

 

Our hands-on training includes Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT), Basic Life Support (BLS) and TCCC, Medical Training for Remote Areas, Situational Awareness, Travel Security, Kidnapping Survival, Threat Assessment, Crisis Management, Emergency Response, and Self-Defense.

HEAT goes beyond basic safety training, offering practical experience in real-life scenarios. Delivered in collaboration with BLUESPEAR, it equips participants with the skills and confidence needed to operate safely in high-risk environments, minimizing risks of harm or injury.

 

HEAT EXPERTS

Our trainers come from a wide range of backgrounds including law enforcement elite units, military, medics, humanitarian workers and journalists. They are highly skilled professionals who have undertaken formal instructional training and have significant personal experience of working within volatile environments.
